Star India (the Company) faced challenges with regard to Managing distribution and operations in multiple regions, providing user-friendly interface for distributors to remotely perform day-to-day operations, managing agreements and price schemes, automating monthly billing and invoicing, and managing detailed contact information of operators and distributors. The case study focuses on the deployment of SURE! (a Magnaquest Product), an end to end subscriber lifecycle management solution and the business impact the solution created for the Company.
Star India (STAR), a wholly owned subsidiary of the News Corporation group of Rupert Murdoch is one of the most recognizable brands in Asia, broadcasting over 60 services in 14 languages, offering comprehensive choices of entertainment, sports, movies, music and news. Launched in 1990, STAR is the market leader in the Indian television market.
STAR has four regional offices. It sells content to the operators through distributors. STAR secures its content through NDS CAS. It also distributes the content of other content providers by bundling them into packages.
The distributors registers operator and place the order for the required packages and hardware to the
respective regional offices, which approves orders and provides required hardware.
