So, I attended recent Wi-Fi Global Congress at San Francisco. It was one of the exciting discussion forums that I participated in, especially on Wi-Fi.

It reminded me about the Design thinking workshops that people or companies conduct to come up with disruptive technologies to address needs.

Cross Product Discounting Functionality
Emergence of communication technologies are increasingly converging towards all IP services. On the other hand, all the services are increasingly becoming bandwidth intensive. If you take the two pieces of information and stitch together, you get the reality of today’s convergence market. Operators have invested intensively on network and today they are more than open to explore possibilities to leverage on the network. While broadband is a more of a basic necessity, additional services will be helpful in increasing revenue streams. An intelligent billing platform should enable operator to leverage on popular current products to promote new product line.

About SURE! Cross Product Discounting:
SURE! Cross Product Discounting feature enables operators/service providers to configure and launch discounts on a product/service based on the characteristics of another product/service. By having this function, it is possible to offer less used services/products at a lower cost for a specific period so as to give the feel of the same to the end subscribers. Once the end subscribers start using the service, he/she may opt to choose/reject it – but the chances of the subscriber opting for it is more.

Some features are mentioned below
  • Configuration of same product OR cross product discounts as percentage or absolute amount
  • Support for multi tiers of discounts
  • Support to define discounts based on the volume of usage of the product, total amount, period of usage
  • Ability to define the period for which the discount is applicable post which the product is charged at the normal rate
  • Ability to support definition of discount for products across multiple services (Video, Voice and Data)
